About Sports Chiropractic

Chiropractic involves adjusting the joints of the spine and extremities. An adjustment puts motion into joints that aren’t moving enough. Joints are surrounded by nerves that make their way to the brain. When these joints are adjusted they provide a stimulus that increases the nerve's activity. The increase in activity block’s the pain signals to the brain and can provide a pain-relieving release.

Restore Joint Motion

Targeted adjustments improve mobility by restoring motion in stiff or restricted joints—so you can move better, train harder, and feel stronger.

Boost Mind-Body Connection

Adjustments activate the nerves around your joints, improving communication between your body and brain for more precise, powerful performance.

Meet Dr. Sam Buckley

Dr. Sam Buckley was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended DeSales highschool where he played multiple sports, predominantly football. During his years of playing sports, he sustained many injuries, most of which were addressed with chiropractic care. Several head injuries later, prescription sleep medication became an everyday reality for him. After repeat visits to the chiropractor, not only did he have significantly less pain, he was able to sleep without the use of medication. He quickly realized that chiropractic isn't just about reducing pain, but improving the overall function of your nervous system, and thus your whole body.

For undergraduate study, Dr. Buckley attended Murray State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. After graduating, he moved to Marietta, GA to attend Life University. During his time at Life University, Dr. Buckley attended many seminars and workshops including full spine adjusting, tonal adjusting, and upper cervical chiropractic. He also helped lead Kairos Training Culture, a group of chiropractic students and chiropractors that prioritize sustainable movement and posture while adjusting and constantly improving their adjusting techniques.

After graduating in 2020, Dr. Buckley moved to Clayton, NC where he practiced for 5 years at Centered Chiropractic. While at Centered, Dr. Buckley treated everyone, from young to old, kids, and pregnant women but he found that he loved working with athletes and doing soft tissue therapy in conjunction with his chiropractic adjustments.

In his free time, Dr. Buckley enjoys reading, learning more about the body through books and podcasts, playing with his dog Zeus and playing piano. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best chiropractor he can be so he can best serve his patients and community. His purpose is to help those who are suffering and remind them of the innate healing potential of their body.

His treatment goals include listening and conversing with his patients to get a full understanding of who they are and why improving their health is important to them and getting his patients to return to their normal daily activities without pain or restrictions. Gradual improvements are typically noticed with each adjustment.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic involves adjusting the joints of the spine and extremities. An adjustment puts motion into joints that aren’t moving enough. Sports Rehabilitation

Sports Medicine Chiropractic is individualized care through skilled active and rehabilitative treatment for the prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise and is especially beneficial for athletes.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a technique used for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. The technique inserts a “dry” thin filiform needle that doesn’t contain medication into areas of the muscle to resolve pain, decrease muscle tension, and promote healing by eliminating tight bands of muscle tissue called trigger points with increased localized blood flow to the area. Dry needling is different from acupuncture and is supported by research.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

The tools may be hard, but the techniques are soft. IASTM is designed to be used with very gentle applications of force, aggressive techniques with heavy pressure are no longer required. IASTM is used to resolve pain and tightness in the body. The instruments make it easier to detect and treat fascial dysfunction, triggering an inflammatory healing response.
